The Bottle©
By Roland Keates
There comes a time in every love
Tear and raindrops must fall
When you become on your own
Clouds come tumbling down
Rivers spill their banks.
When love goes away
Others say, “time to move on”
Find someone new to love
Yes they might have been through this
They haven’t loved and lost you.
Love is what life is all about
So break down the barriers
Learn to forgive and forget
Time is a great healer
Broken hearts do mend.
With a love of a bottle
May be together we can get over
Burn this memory
A bottle won’t let you down
A woman will.
The Devil ©
By Roland Keates
Sandra know I’m not the cheating kind
Mixing drinks with sweet young chicks
Makes you partially blind.
Gives the devil a number of tricks.
So the devil gets inside me
Tempting me to cheat
The devil has a costly fee
As I sit upon this seat.
He brings me a lady cute and free
To cheat me out of you
I run on home, drop to my knee
Say, “I’ve always been true”
The devil still calls
Urging me to cheat
My lady she brawls
With the devil to delete.
So when the devil knocks on your door
Tempting you, make a phone call
Your lady is a lore
A hard standing wall.

Thoughts of a fisherman
By Roland Keates
How long do I have too wait?
Along these grassy banks
For theirs fish I see
My hooks in the water to catch.
Oh my thoughts are the summer’s dream
To go to the Mediterranean Sea
On a boat to catch a whale for tea
So my wife won’t be mad with me.
The area around me is over grown
With green moss and flowers
The water so still so calm
Not like the Mediterranean Sea.
My thoughts go back to my dreams
For the sense faints picturing them
Then be the fish of the sea
So large and ready for me.
My hook is pulled
Oh my dream comes true
To catch a fish for tea
That wont be the last
